Cycle Project - Cycle of a Logistical Director
A downloadable game
ARTIST STATEMENT:
I created an original cycle (aka, not based on one from my Magpie book) based on one of my many tasks as a logistics director of a competitive team. The way I approached fabulism in this game was to deploy a sort of anti-fabulism, in which the events are so bland that, in a way, they CYCLE back to being fantastical. The way that I created a gap between my passage transitions and the passages themselves was to capitalize the transitions, as is standard in my generation to use caps to simulate urgency, specifically, representing YELLING. Therefore, it is as if you are being urgently ushered into yet another bland task in a never-ending cycle (of course, the job is punctuated by the genuine excitement of the competitions themselves). I conducted two playtests, and the feedback from both was to make the text within the passages as bland as possible, to convey the intended message.
